Dylan in 3-D!!!
Hello all,
It has taken me a while to put in this latest blog but, I think that you will be very pleased with it. I think that I had told you in previous blogs that Lisa and I won a raffle to get a 3-dimensional image of our baby. We had to wait until Lisa was at least 28 weeks along before we could have these pictures taken.
Well September 9th was the day. I didn't think it would affect me as much as it did. I mean, come on, they are just pictures, right? Well, we arrived there a little before 3:00pm on Saturday and we met up with my sister-in-law Kristi ( she was there way before us). We went into the office and the first thing that I noticed was all the pictures on the right side wall. They were of other babies that all had there pictures taken. Some pictures also had a picture of the babies after they were born. The similarities of the two pictures were amazing! Technology in the 21st Century has come so far.
After we signed in (Lisa had already printed out the paperwork online and filled it out before we got there. That's sooo Lisa, right?) we sat and waited in the front part of the office. One couple had just gotten up from the couch and went back while we were finding a seat. It took them about 5 minutes and they were out and smiling. They were hoping for a girl because there entire family had baby boys. They were smiling because they got the news they wanted. I was thinking to myself that they're appointment went pretty quickly.
It took another 10 minutes with people going in and out. There was a woman who was there with her mother. She had 3 boys and was hoping for a girl. She also got what she prayed for. Both her and her mother were ecstatic. Finally they called us in.
Entering the room where all the pictures are to be taken was quite soothing. They had calm music playing and the lights were low. They had toys for any small children that might accompany the parents. They also had many places for other family members to sit with many monitors around the room so that everyone could watch the "magic". They quickly got Lisa on the table, tummy exposed and lubricated. The Nurse/photographer asked us if we knew the gender of the baby. We said we thought so but, it would be great to have a second opinion. She was a great sport and said that she would make sure to check if its a boy.
Before she started, however, Kathy (the nurse/photographer) told us that they were running a special deal with package we had chosen . Instead of just a "Quick Peek" at Dylan, she said that we would get the upgraded package which included a 15 minute session (instead of just 5 minutes), a CD of all the pictures that were taken, a DVD of the whole session and 5 printed pictures of our choosing. We were so thrilled about this great deal. God sure knows how to bless His children!
Okay, okay back to the story. Kathy went directly for the "Money Shot". She honed in on the object lovingly referred to as "The Turtle". She explained that on the ultrasound pictures the boy parts tend to resemble a shell and head of a turtle and darned if it didn't!! So, Yes, we are definitely having a BOY!
After that it was all fun. She took picture after picture with Lisa on her back. Some of the pictures had Dylan right up against the placenta so it looks like his nose isn't finished (the picture to the right. Oh, and the thing to the right of his face, looking at the picture, is his foot, Ouch!). That really worried us in the beginning but, Kathy calmed our nerves and had Lisa turn on her side and took some great pictures of his "real" nose. What a gorgeous baby! (Of course, tears came to my eyes. Hey, I'm allowed). Obviously, these are way more than just pictures.
We are so pleased with the whole experience, we highly recommend it to anyone who is pregnant (with doctor's permission, of course). I am going to put some pictures in this blog but, Lisa will have all of them at the baby shower so, make sure to come and see them.
Lisa, the girls and I are so happy about the soon-coming baby. We have the room almost ready and we can't wait until we have a baby to put in it. I have so enjoyed the whole process of child birth ( I can't vouch for Lisa, though). Our next step is to set up our Lamaze classes. We only have about 9 weeks left. WOW!! It's that close? I will try and update you sooner than I have been. Lisa and I would like to thank all of you for being so supportive and we just wish many blessings for all of you and your families. I will talk to you soon.
God Bless,
Richard
